What is the Train of 1000?
1000 youngsters, one train, one destination: Auschwitz. A 25 hour train trip, visits to Auschwitz, Birkenau, Krakow; meetings with survivors of camps and cultural evenings: this is what the participants of the Train des 1000 can expect. The 1000 youngsters - Belgian students and young people from a dozen European countries - will visit together, accompanied by their teachers, one of the most tragic places in history.
The Train of 1000 takes place from 5 to 10 May 2020.
A pedagogical trajectory.
The Train of 1000 is an educational learning trajectory around Holocaust and Remembrance. The students who participate in the Train of 1000, the students prepare for the memorial trip for a year. Together with their teacher they will visit Auschwitz - Birkenau between 5 and 10 May 2020. Their project is all about values such as democracy, respect, tolerance and citizenship.

The decision is made! The schools participating in the Train of 1000 from 5 to 10 May 2020 are known. The jury had great difficulty withholding only 22 from the 78 applications. All schools submitted interesting files.
From September on the selected schools work on a variety of themes related to the Holocaust, culminating in the train journey from 5 to 10 May 2020.
